We as a society owe Kesha Sebert an apology. When she burst onto the scene in 2010 with the megahit "Tik Tok" she was dismissed as a Gaga wannabe, a pop flash in the pan. Since then, of course, Kesha has dropped the both the "$" and the pretense. She's a genuine songwriter who has had to struggle with some serious shit. Rainbow is at last her signature document, a work that shows her range, her willingness to experiment, and most of all, her strength.

Being able to see how you act and receive criticism from everybody via the Internet changes how people react and then act the second time around. Katheryn Bigelow's new film Detroit follows the events of the Algiers Hotel shooting on July 25th, 1976. This movie uses court testimony and eyewitness accounts to construct the narrative of the film. With that in mind, Detroit doesn't shy away from police brutality and civilian riots. Much like The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, Bigelow puts the audience in the middle of high stress situations with no room for error.
