Intelligence Pending…

With the launch of Peacock TV to the streaming service game, so comes with it original programming to entice you into a subscription. That’s what Intelligence tries to accomplish as the new comedy on the site. And tries it does as this formulaic, fish-out-of-water concept doesn’t have the heart or charm to stay afloat.

David Schwimmer stars as a disgraced NSA agent who gets sent across the Atlantic to the British intelligence center for cyber security. The ensemble he works with run the comedy spectrum of aging single woman, to mysterious former hacker, and socially awkward assistant. The concept is simple enough that it’s a prime example of the cast not meshing. Schwimmers’ character never comes across as a likeable protagonist while talking down to his co-workers or trying to skirt the rules. This is the same issue the US version of The Office had in its first season. However, that's only one of the many problems this show will have to deal with as the jokes are hit and miss on execution of otherwise well written wordplay.
