MoviePass offers unlimited movies for $9.95
If you're like me, we should definitely meet sometime. But if you also like movies as much as I do, then MoviePass has come to your rescue. In a surprising move, MoviePass has lowered its pricing from $50 a month to an unbelievable price of $9.95 a month. All you have to do is sign up using their app and they will mail you a special card that you can use at over 91% of movie theaters. Now before you go throwing your money at them, be warned that there are several stipulations regarding this price point.
First off, you can only see one film per day. This may limit people who wish to see multiple movies per day. Also, you can only see a film once. After you've purchased a ticket for that movie, you cannot choose to see that movie again using MoviePass. Furthermore, you cannot buy IMAX or 3D movies either. There is no price point for these options either so you'll have to buy a ticket for these premium format options. And lastly, if you go to a theater that has seating reservations, you cannot order online, but have to buy the ticket in person at the theater. Naturally, there are ways around these limitations but I'll leave that up to you to figure out.
The price drop comes after MoviePass made a deal to sell a majority stake to Helios and Matheson Analytics Inc., a small publicly traded data firm in New York. Basically, this means that your moviegoing habits are going to a public data trading company. I don't mind this as I would rather people know what movies they go see. Maybe I can also put my thoughts on each movie I watch somewhere. If only such a place existed.
